This one's just for us dogs!

My name is Hero.
My Mom rescued me when I was found wandering around in the countryside during the wintertime. Someone called my Mom to tell her that a "strange dog" (that's what they called ME!) had been hanging around their house for three weeks and asked if my Mom would take it. Of course, she said "Of course!" Mom runs
"Bluff Country Canine Rescue" and she helps dogs that don't have homes find really GOOD homes where the people love them and take excellent care of them, and they get to live IN THE HOUSE and everything! Since I was brought to the Rescue, Mom had to pay the "Adoption" fee so that she could keep me forever. She says that I was worth every cent!
Because I am such a NICE dog, I let the other dogs that Mom has rescued talk on MY BLOG once in a while.
I hope you'll stop by often and leave a comment so I know that you visited!

CALLING ALL DOGS!

Hero here.  With something serious to talk about.  I don't know if you know it or not, but my Mom likes to save dogs that don't have homes and/or are facing being put to sleep (which is something people say to make themselves feel better about KILLING A HOMELESS DOG!) in "shelters".  I was homeless once.  It's lonely.  I missed having someone that talked to me and petted me and FED me!  I was one of the lucky ones.  My Mom rescued me before I even got turned in to a 'shelter'.  Don't get me wrong ~ some shelters are GOOD places.  They take care of dogs that are lost or their owners can't take care of them anymore.  But so many shelters end up over crowded, with no room for more dogs.  Yet, more dogs keep coming in!  The only thing that those shelters can think to do is to kill some of the dogs that have been there a while, to make room for the new ones ~ hoping that someone will adopt them.  It's SO sad to think of perfectly nice, loving dogs who want nothing more than to LOVE someone and have someone LOVE them back, end up dying because there's no room...

That's what would have happened to Gypsy!

But that's where my Mom steps in!  When Mom hears about a sweet dog that's going to be killed because there's no room at the shelter, she "rescues" it!  Nice people help the lucky dog get to our house and my Mom takes them to the Vet to make sure that they get all their shots and tests and spayed or neutered.  The spayed or neutered part is EXTRA important, to make sure that there aren't even MORE pups born that end up homeless and alone or in shelters!

Do you remember how sad and scared CRICKET first looked when Mom saw her in the shelter?

Isn't it amazing what a little LOVE can do for a dog?  Who would have guessed what a beautiful, HAPPY dog Cricket would turn out to be?  I'm sure glad that Mom saved her!

But, HERE'S THE THING:  It costs lots of money for Mom to rescue these dogs.  Of COURSE they are worth it!  Every penny!  The problem is, Mom doesn't have lots of money.  Before I came to live with her, my Mom got hurt, BAD.  Then she got real sick.  Now she can't work.  Which us dogs kind of like because it means that she's home with us ALL THE TIME!  ;-)   The problem is, it makes it hard for Mom to feed us all.  And there's NO money for Vet bills.  I told Mom we could just not go to the Vet!  She didn't think that was such a good idea.  'Specially for the new dogs. ..

So, Mom's started something called a "ChipIn".  It's a way for nice people, who love dogs and want to help save more homeless pups can help Mom help more dogs!  People just "ChipIn" and Mom gets money to help pay the vet bills or buy food (or new TOYS!!! Cricket chews them all up!)  Right now, we're hoping Mom will buy us a swimming pool for the summer.  That would be awesome!  Anyway, if YOU would like to help ~ or you want your PERSON to help, go ahead and click on the ChipIn box and make a donation.

Mom says that ANY amount will help so don't feel bad if you can't give a lot.  Then again, if you CAN give a lot ~ that would be PAWsome!!!  ;-)  Just think:  if you and all of YOUR FRIENDS can talk their people into donating some money, Mom will be able to save and take good care of lots more dogs ~ and find them their Forever Homes so that they are happy and loved like US!  Maybe you would be willing to give up your treats for a week?  Or give a nice TOY to a dog who has never had a toy to play with?  I told Mom that us dogs were the answer to her prayers ~ Just like she is the answer to the prayers for many homeless dogs...

Thanks for pitchin in and if we get that swimming pool, you're all invited to the POOL PARTY!!!

(P.S.  Mom said that I should tell you that we're hoping for one of those 'cheapy, kids, plastic pools' ~ not some built-in, underground pool or anything.  I think a built-in, underground pool would be GREAT!)

;-)

XOXO

HERO

  1. Your Mom is my hero! She has opened her heart and home and is sacrificing so much to truly make a difference! While our time is spent rescuing Goldens, she has reminded me that there are lots and lots of 'other' breeds of dogs that truly deserve that chance at a good life too! I so hope that people help her to continue to make that amazing difference for the special pups like Cricket that need help finding their way.

I'm sorry that I can't help right now--But I am building up a little stash of Frontline (9 doses) that is 'yours' if you'd like it that I hope will help...

    1. Surely you know, Kim, that YOU were MY inspiration! It was because of the respect and admiration that I have for you and what you do for your rescued Golden Retrievers that I first thought of starting a canine rescue...

As you well know, Frontline is ALWAYS a help!

      ;-)
